Historic Groundbreaking

Sunday, April 23 2023, over 150 people attended this historic rededication ceremony of the original groundbreaking of April 23, 1923. The silver spade which Mary Emery used to turn the first spadeful of earth to begin construction of her visionary new town was on display. Speakers included Randy York, Centennial Committee Chair; Congressman (Ohio First District) Greg Landsman; Mayor Bill Brown; Thomas J. Emery Memorial President Lee Carter and MPF President Paul Mace. Mariemont’s “First Lady” Debbie Brown read a congratulatory Resolution from State Senator Catherine Ingram.  Members of the MHS Strings Orchestra provided live background music.
