MPF has identified local masonry contractor HICON, Inc. to complete the tuckpointing of the historic masonry on the west elevation of the Ferris House.
The Ferris House, built between 1802 and 1812, is the oldest brick building in Hamilton County, Ohio and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The House has deep ties to the beginnings of Mariemont. It first served as the residence of the earliest settlers to the area, Eliphalet Ferris, who was the son of Revolutionary War veteran, Jeduthan Ferris. Mariemont was later founded by philanthropist, Mary Emery and designed by the renowned American Planner and Garden City Practitioner, John Nolen.
The Ferris House was the first property Mary Emery purchased for the planned community of Mariemont. By 1923, the house became the construction headquarters for the Mariemont Company and the groundbreaking for the Village was held on the front lawn.
The Ferris House Museum Masonry Repair Project is funded in part by the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection. Your donations to the Ohio History Fund make this program possible. www.ohiohistory.org/historyfund

The Ferris House Exterior Restoration Project was also made possible by a grant from the H.G., H.F. & Louise Tuechter Dornette Foundation, Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Trustee.
